Wild Nature in Lincolnshire
A vision for the natural environment of Lincolnshire 2006 - 2010
Our Vision for Lincolnshire
 |
|
We want Lincolnshire to be significantly richer in wildlife than it is today. Changes in agriculture, largely brought about by the new agri-environment schemes, are already helping wildlife but we will need to involve industry, the voluntary sector and all local authorities in taking further action.
We will continue to care for all wildlife - wildflowers, birds and other animals. To do this our chief effort will be in safeguarding existing wild places which must be valued and conserved as reservoirs of biodiversity. They must also be expanded through the creation of new habitat, contributing to an environment more resilient to climate change and other challenges. We want to share this vision with others, including landowners and land managers, and we want more people to understand and enjoy the rewarding natural environment of Lincolnshire. We set out in this document our vision for each of the Character Areas and for their principal wildlife habitats.
