Next month, ahead of the crucial UN climate summit in Copenhagen, The Wildlife Trusts will join tens of thousands of people marching through the streets of London to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all.
Part of a global series of public actions, The Wave will call on world leaders to take urgent action to secure a fair international deal to stop global warming exceeding the danger threshold of 2 degrees Celsius.
The Wave is organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, of which The Wildlife Trusts are members. Stop Climate Chaos is the UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action on climate change with a combined supporter base of more than 11 million people from over 100 organisations.
Join the blue themed event and show your support by wearing blue clothing and bringing blue fabric and banners to create a human wave that will flow along the Thames Embankment towards Westminster. The march begins at 12pm at Grosvenor Square and a finale will take place at 3pm as The Wave encircles the Houses of Parliament.
Supporters and members of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust are welcome to march with The Wildlife Trusts by meeting near Grosvenor Square from 11am. Please contact Cara Downey, The Wildlife Trusts Campaigns Support Officer, for more details cdowney@wildlifetrusts.org or 020 7803 4294.
Transition Lincoln has organised a coach leaving Lincoln at 7am on Saturday 5th December. If required, there will be a pick up in Horncastle and Wragby before Lincoln (time & pick up points tbc). The coach will cost £20. For more details contact Andrew Harrison on 01522 545163 or email captainrainbow@aol.com
Smaller events in the run up to The Wave are being planned all over the country including in Lincoln. At 4pm on Friday 27 November, people will be gathering in front of Lincoln Cathedral to form a Stop Climate Chaos “Milli-band” – a chain of people. Come along and take part.
