Pick up a natural history bargain

Half-price book sale starts this Friday (18 February 2011) at the Gibraltar Point Visitor Centre

Gibraltar Point Visitor CentreA wide range of new natural history books are going on sale at the Visitor Centre at Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve near Skegness. Included in the half-price sale are books covering a variety of wildlife topics such as birdwatching and wildlife gardening as well as identification and pocket guides, coffee table books and children’s books.

Whilst you’re visiting, take time to browse the gift shop and relax in The Point Café. The cafe serves wholesome, organic, locally sourced food surrounded by the sights and sounds of Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve. Delicious homemade cakes are a speciality and can be enjoyed from The Look-Out with views out across the saltmarsh.

 

Visitor Centre and Café Opening Times

  • 1 November - 31 March
    - Weekdays from 11am to 3pm
    - Weekends from 11am to 4pm
  • 1 April - 31 October
    - Everyday from 10am to 4pm

Please note: During very bad weather, the visitor centre and cafe may close early.

How to find us: Gibraltar Point on the Lincolnshire coast about three miles south of Skegness.  Follow the brown tourist signs through the town onto Gibraltar Road. Continue along the road and over a hump until to see the visitor centre in front of you.

  1. The Gibraltar Point Visitor Centre has received the VAQAS award (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme); VisitEngland's annual quality assessment service for all types of visitor attractions throughout England. The Point Café is a member of Tastes of Lincolnshire; recognised as supplying a choice of fresh Lincolnshire produce.

  2. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is one of Lincolnshire’s wildest landscapes.  The reserve covers 1100 acres of pristine coastline and is recognised as an area of international importance. It extends about three miles along the Lincolnshire coast from the southern end of Skegness to the entrance of the Wash and includes sandy and muddy seashore, sand dunes, saltmarsh and freshwater marsh with ponds and lagoons. The Reserve is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust under a lease from its owners the Lincolnshire County Council and East Lindsey District Council. www.lincstrust.org.uk/reserves/gib/index.php
