Workshop: Christmas Willow Weaving
Whisby Nature Park,
Moor Lane, Thorpe-on-the-Hill, LN6 9BWAbout the event
Join renowned Lincolnshire Willow Weaver, Alison Walling for a day of creating your own seasonal garlands in the morning and large and small stars in the afternoon to decorate your home. Alison teaches regularly throughout the county, leading workshops in a wide range of willow work including basic basketmaking and sculpture. Her training in basketry has led her to use those techniques to create small and large scale pieces, from woodpeckers to sculptural shelters. This day course is perfect for beginners and will teach you all you need to know to start your own weaving projects at home. All the materials and equipment you’ll need for the day will be provided, however feel free to bring your own gardening gloves and any holly, ivy or other greenery with which to decorate your creations.
Our monthly training workshops are designed to provide adults the opportunity to learn nature-based skills to wild up their lives and areas. Each workshop booking incudes refreshments for the day but you will need to provide your own lunch.
Meet at Whisby Education Centre for a 10am start. Please note that no dogs are permitted at this workshop or within the Education Centre grounds. Parking available in the visitor car park (parking charges apply). Please ensure that you bring outdoor clothes suitable for the weather on the day. Feel free to bring equipment to write notes with if that will aid your learning.
