Finalists announced in the Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award

Final judging in the Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award will take place on Wednesday 22 May at the Education Centre, Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln.

The Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Awards recognise and reward the enthusiasm, hard work and commitment of young people. The Awards aim to foster a sense of responsibility for the environment and reward schools, groups, clubs and individuals for the fantastic achievements that are being made.

The finalists are:

  • St Christopher's Primary School, Lincoln
  • Birchwood Junior School, Lincoln
  • Washingborough Academy
  • Kirkby La Thorpe Primary Academy, Sleaford
  • Matthew Ellerby – Butterwick
  • Humber Wild

Final judging in the Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award will take place on Wednesday 22 May at the Education Centre, Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln, when the children will make presentations to the judges. Members of the press are invited to attend the announcement of the winners and presentation of the awards at approximately 12:30pm.

Our judging team have visited all six finalists. It’s quite amazing to see how diverse they are and what they’re doing. It’s going to be a difficult decision to select the overall winner.

The Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Awards are sponsored by FCC Environment and are organised by the Rotary Club of Lindum, Lincoln, and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

 

 

Lincolnshire Environmental Awards - Communities

We’re looking for community-based groups who are working to improve their local environment, encourage wildlife and increase sustainability. The winner will receive a cash prize of £300. All entrants making it through to the finals will receive a cash prize of £150.

Community groups can enter the Awards using the online form by the deadline on 17 June 2024. All we need is a short description of your project (200 – 300 words).

The finalists in the Awards will be showcased and the winners announced during the Nextdoor Nature Day on Saturday 28 September, 10am – 5pm at the Education Centre, Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln. The day will be opportunity to share experiences and best practice with a network of community groups.
