Dogs on nature reserves
Nature reserves are special places, sensitively managed for the protection of wildlife. Dogs are a beloved companion for many people, but to wildlife they are a big and scary predator. For these reasons we advise that dogs should not be taken on nature reserves.
PAWS for thought
Where dogs are allowed and in the wider countryside, we're asking people to PAWS for thought.
-
Paws on land, lead in hand
-
Always bag and bin poo bags
-
Watch, look and listen
-
Stick to designated paths and routes
Where can I walk my dog?
Some of our larger reserves allow dogs if they are kept on a short lead. These include:
- Gibraltar Point (dogs not permitted on the beach from 1 April to 1 September)
- Snipe Dales Country Park (not Snipe Dales Nature Reserve)
- Whisby Nature Park (dogs can be taken off the lead around Thorpe Lake)
Dog walking in the wider countryside
There are many public footpaths, open spaces and country parks in Lincolnshire where you can go dog walking. Dogs are also permitted on sites covered by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (2000) and on public rights of way.
