Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust statement

The natural world has given us all comfort and joy during the coronavirus pandemic and we hope that it will continue to do so. We will continue to assess the Covid-19 situation and take sensible steps to protect the health and safety of staff, volunteers and members of the public.
Please keep yourself and others safe.
Visiting nature reserves
Our nature reserves are special places for wildlife and are home to some of our rarest species. Please take extra care when visiting to cause as little disturbance as possible.
- Visitor Centres at Gibraltar Point, Far Ings and Whisby Nature Park are open. We recommend continuing to wear face coverings whilst moving around our Visitor Centres. Please keep a safe distance where possible, wash your hands frequently and follow any site signage and directions.
- Toilets are open at Whisby Nature Park (managed by the Natural World Centre), Gibraltar Point, Snipe Dales and Far Ings.
- Hides are open but are not cleaned on a regular basis. Use at your own risk. Please sanitise your hands before and after use. Face coverings are recommended if hides are busy.
- Where car park machines are provided, there is no option for card payments. Please have cash to hand and sanitise your hands after use.
- All litter should be taken home including tissues, antiseptic wipes and nappies.
- Be mindful that car parks may quickly become full, please don’t park on the verges – this damages wildlife habitat and can prevent emergency vehicles from accessing sites. At reserves where no parking is provided, please park sensibly and avoid blocking access.
- Dogs are not allowed on the majority of reserves. Where they are permitted please keep dogs on a short lead. There may be grazing animals present.
- Please stay on the way-marked paths and follow any signage on site.
- Be kind and respectful of staff, volunteers and other visitors.
Activities not permitted on nature reserves include: cycling; running; lighting fires or barbecues; swimming; flying drones; fishing; putting up tents or hides; the removal of any plants, fungi or animals.
Events
Our events are going ahead as planned including Area Group and Wildlife Watch events. Please visit our What’s On pages for details. We encourage you to wear a face covering at any indoor events. Please do not attend if you are unwell, are displaying symptoms of Covid or have been asked to isolate.
School and group visits
Bookings are being taken for educational visits to Far Ings, Gibraltar Point and Whisby Nature Park.
Volunteering

Getting in touch
Please email rather than telephone if you need to get in touch. The Trust Headquarters, Banovallum House in Horncastle, remains closed to visitors and, where possible staff are working from home.
