We have two exciting positions available as residential volunteers on the coast for those looking to kickstart a career in conservation with a wealth of hands-on experience.

Start date: Week commencing 7 April 2025

Duration: Six months (until the end of September 2025) with potential for extension subject to mutual agreement, up to 11 months maximum

The role:

  • This placement is suitable for anyone with an interest in wildlife and natural history looking to begin a career in nature conservation
  • An exciting opportunity to support the Outer Humber and Coast reserves team in habitat management and species recording across a number of different sites and habitats
  • Assisting with monitoring of a variety of different flora and fauna to include night and some bank holiday working.

Requirements:

  • An interest in British natural history and wildlife conservation
  • Enthusiasm to get stuck in!
  • Good people/communication skills, team working, the ability to be self-motivated and use initiative are essential
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weathers, a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations
  • Species identification skills and a keen will to develop these skills
  • UK driving licence and access to own vehicle are desirable due to the remote location
  • Some previous experience of practical conservation work, use of tools/machinery, public engagement and species monitoring would be an advantage
  • Suitable for over-18s only.
