Nature conservation traditionally focused on protecting specific sites, but wildlife is everywhere and needs to move freely through the countryside. Nature reserves are special places but they are not enough; we also need to think of the landscape as a whole – as a Living Landscape.

Our nature conservation work is helping to put wildlife back on the map outside our protected nature reserves and with the help of a wide range of partners and communities.

We engage proactively in the planning process to prevent negative impacts on wildlife and advocate design that benefits wildlife.
